Winter Tangerine Review is a literary magazine online and in print; it’s run primarily by young women of color and features beautiful, boundary-pushing poetry and prose. At the beginning of April, the magazine published Fragments of Persephone, an exquisite online issue guest-edited by Jeanann Verlee and Alexandra Levasseur that explores “the contrast between commonly accepted conceptions of femininity and the reality of it.”
Featuring the hyperrealist paintings of artist Lee Price, photographs by NXHS, and work by writers including Shira Erlichman, Xandria Phillips, Gala Mukomolova, and Franny Choi, among others, the special issue “comments on the relationships between real women and the conceptions of legendary and mythical women — goddesses, saints, and pop idols.”
