Tomás Downey

Tomás Downey (Buenos Aires, Argentina, 1984) is a screenwriter and the author of two short story collections, “Acá el tiempo es otra cosa” (Interzona, 2015), which was awarded first prize by the Fondo Nacional de las Artes (Argentina) and shortlisted for the III Premio Hispanoamericano de Cuento Gabriel García Márquez (Colombia), and “El lugar donde mueren los pájaros” (Fiordo, 2017), which received an honorable mention at the Premios Nacionales 2014-2017 (Argentina) and is being translated into Italian by the publisher Gran Via Edizioni. His writing has appeared in magazines and newspapers from Argentina, Uruguay, Colombia, Costa Rica and Spain. In 2019, his short story Animales en hueso won the first literature contest organized by the Fundación María Elena Walsh. He is currently working on his third book, for which he has obtained a grant from the Fondo Nacional de las Artes.
