
Nidia Cuan
Nidia Cuan is a poet and writer living in Mérida, Yucatán. Her raw, activist poetry addresses femicide and the trafficking of girls and women in Mexico. Cuan holds degrees from the Universidad Veracruzana and the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). She has taught courses in oral literary tradition, contemporary linguistics, and creative writing at several universities, and published research articles in anthologies and academic journals. In 2016, she was recipient of Mexico’s National Dolores Castro Prize for Women (Premio Nacional de Narrativa “Dolores Castro”).
