Nanci Amaka (Nanci Nwamaka Ikejimba Muraoka) is an interdisciplinary conceptual artist. Her work explores ideas surrounding trauma, memory, identity, and the liminal space between experience and language. Nanci was born in Nigeria, and moved to the USA in her tweens. She received a BA in Visual Critical Studies from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and an MFA from California College of the Arts. Her work has been shown in Honolulu, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Cincinnati, New York City, and Sweden. She now lives and works in Hawaii.
Some things require you sit in the dark for them to reveal themselves to you. Other things will never fully reveal themselves, though we feel their presence.
