The German-Palestinian author Maruan Paschen was born in 1984 and grew up in Hamburg. After training to be a chef, he studied at the Swiss Literature Institute in Biel/Bienne. Paschen lives in Berlin. His first book, Kai, was recently published by Matthes & Seitz Berlin.
