Justin Clarel

Justin Clarel (they/them) is a pro-mask and anti-COVID writer, theatre artist, and educator creating Black trans and queer stories to build a better world. Their commitment to comedy and collective liberation grounds their work for the page, stage, and screen. Their writing has been supported by the Black Trans Ethical World(un)making Lab, VONA, the Hurston/Wright Foundation, InterAct Theatre Company, the Leeway Foundation, GrubStreet, OUTsider Festival, Sundress Academy for the Arts, the Strides Collective, and Genderfunk Philly. Born, raised, and currently based in New Jersey, Justin holds an AB in Sociology from Princeton University and is currently pursuing an MFA at Antioch University Los Angeles.
