Javier Peñalosa is a writer and educator who was born and raised in Mexico City. He earned a BA in Education and an MFA in Creative Writing in Spanish at NYU. He is the author of the poetry collections Aviario, Los trenes que partían de mí, and Los que regresan, winner of the Joaquin Xirau prize in 2016. He is also the author of the children’s books El día que María perdió la voz and Un golpe de viento, among others. As a screenwriter, he has worked on award-winning films and TV series, such as the acclaimed Juana Inés.
