Alexis Almeida grew up in Chicago. She is the author of I Have Never Been Able to Sing, just out from Ugly Duckling Presse. Her translation of Roberta Iannamico's Wreckage is recently out from Toad Press, and her translations of Marina Yuszczuk's Single Mother and Dalia Rosetti's Dreams and Nightmares are forthcoming from Spork Press and Les Figues. She teaches in the Language and Thinking Program at Bard College, and at the Bard microcollege at the Brooklyn Public Library. She lives in Brooklyn where she runs 18 Owls Press.
