Alejandro Varela

Alejandro Varela is a writer based in New York. His work has appeared in the New Republic, the Southampton Review, Pariahs Anthology (SFA Press, 2016), and Blunderbuss Magazine, and has received honorable mention from Glimmer Train Press (May/June 2016). He is a 2017 NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellow in Nonfiction, and a resident in the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council’s 2017-2018 Workspace program. Alejandro is working on a collection of short stories, tentatively titled "The First 200 Years of Eduardo," as well as a collection of essays, "Notes From a Quickly Gentrifying Foxhole." He is an associate editor at Apogee Journal.
